Planning your rehearsal dinner can be stressful and overwhelming at times, which is why booking the rehearsal dinner should be the least of your worries.

Getting your wedding party, friends and family together the night before the wedding can become costly if you don’t know where to start.  Here are a few professional tips to consider when choosing the destination for your rehearsal dinner.

Consider the Location

Depending on the time of year, you should make your reservations at least 6 months in advance. It’s important to consider other local events and holidays during this time. Most restaurants located in close proximity to a college or high school will have a higher volume of large reservations during graduation season. It’s never too early to book the rehearsal dinner.

The Atmosphere

Make sure you dine at the restaurant before selecting it for your rehearsal dinner. Make reservations on the same day of the week your event will be taking place. This will help you get a feel for the ambiance, volume of other diners and style of service to expect.

Private vs Semi Private

The phrase Semi Private can have several definitions depending on the restaurant. If you are looking for a completely private space make sure you are specific. Be sure to ask where your party will be setup and if the venue is flexible in case the number of guests increases the day of your rehearsal. Making the restaurant aware of a possible increase in guests can ensure you book the proper room or location in the restaurant.

Dietary Restrictions

Consider any of your guests’ dietary restrictions and ask what menu items can be offered. People with allergies or dietary restrictions tend to feel like a burden when dining out with a large group. Making the restaurant aware in advance will help the chef compose more creative menu offerings that will accommodate your guests’ dietary restrictions.

Keep it Simple but Elegant

Remember you are getting married the next day. The rehearsal dinner shouldn’t out shine the wedding day. Less is more depending on the standard table settings and décor in the restaurant. Candles, place cards and flower arrangements for the tables are additional costs and may not be necessary.

Wine Selections and Beverage Packages

You know your guests more than anyone. If most of your guests enjoy wine ask the event coordinator about any beverage packages or the wine director about their bottled wine selections. They will be able to help you select bottles of red and white wines for the table that will provide you with more value and enhance your guests’ dining experience.
